“Fragments of Memory and Collective Trauma'' Poster

“Fragments Of Memory And Collective Trauma''

dir. by Elpiniki Voutsa Rentzepopoulou, Greece
runtime: 5 min

The writing of history by those in power leaves behind only injustice and wounds. It silences lived experience (especially of those from below), and with it, countless stories are erased—stories that will never be read in books, never passed down through generations. This silence allows us to believe that fascism was a singular occurrence, somewhere, sometime, in the past.

Our grandmothers’ bodies remember; their obsession with certain repeated phrases bears witness.

Inspired by the open call of the “Small Stages” of the Days of Remembrance Festival in the martyred village of Kondomari, this video art piece was presented among other artistic works, under the title:

“Fragments of Memory and Collective Trauma.”
