Eozen Agopian

Bio

Eozen Agopian was born in Athens, Greece. She has received her Master of Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, N.Y., (1993), Bachelor of Fine Arts, (magna cum laude) from Hunter College, N.Y., N.Y., (1989), and Associate Degree in Graphic Design from F.I.T, N.Y., N,Y., (1997). She has had eleven solo shows. Her most recent exhibition, “Persistent Dichotomies” took place at Fox Gallery NYC, 2017. Some others are: “Traverse”, Eleftheria Tseliou Gallery, Athens, 2015, “Under thread” Gallery Kaplanon, 2008, “Cords”, Gallery Thema, Athens, 1997, “Paintings and works on paper”, Michael Walls Gallery, N.Y., N.Y., 1993. She has participated in six three person shows including the exhibition “Abstraction, Concealment and Revelation” curated by Eleni Athanasiou at Radisson Hotel, Athens, 2016 and “Three Colorists” curated by Michael Walls at Lesley Heller Workspace, N.Y., N,Y., 2012. Her work is shown in several group shows in Greece, France, Italy, Germany, China and the United States, such as Shiva Gallery of the John Jay college (New York), Hellenic American Union (Athens), AAW Gallery, (Beijing), Museum of Contemporary Art Crete (Crete), State Museum of Contemporary Art, Thessalonica, Greece. She has been an invited artist at the Triangle Arts Residency in Brooklyn. Agopian creates visual parallels between rational and cosmological worlds through constructing and deconstructing, layering and erasing, scraping and marking, unraveling and reconnecting. She currently divides her time living and working in New York and Athens. She is represented in Greece by Eleftheria Tseliou Gallery.
